Barn Quilt Painting for Beginners

Instructor: Genie Allen  

Beautiful painted quilts can be found on barns, sheds, and buildings all over Arkansas. Come paint a colorful geometric quilt block to hang wherever you please. We’ll draw out the design, choose an attractive color scheme, and begin painting our 12” x 12” quilt blocks. Materials provided. 

Genie taught herself to sew as a child and is an avid reader and miniature maker. She studied costume design & art history at the U of A and has taught art, ESL, and science. Now she is the Community Ed Coordinator, a TRIO SSS tutor, and teaches art & sewing camps for kids in the summer.

Clay Creatures

Instructor: Candace Snow 
 
From pets, favorite animals, or mythical beasts, come learn to create your favorite creature out of clay.  We’ll learn how to sculpt using hand-building techniques in ceramic clay. We will cover slab building and form building, as well as techniques for hollowing out the sculptures. We’ll then be using acrylic paint to give them color and life.  

Candace is an experienced artist who has been teaching art for 10 years. She is co-founder of Wolf and Ram Studios, and she travels to conventions selling her artwork. Candace works in various mediums, from watercolor and acrylic to ceramics. Committed to constantly learning and growing as an artist, her goal is to encourage more people to fall in love with art.

Painting with Brenda Session 2

Instructor: Brenda Lawrence 

If you have always wanted to paint landscapes like the late Bob Ross, this class is for you! Great for both beginners and anyone wanting to improve their skills at landscape painting using oil paints. You will walk away with a lovely oil painting painted by YOU! Brenda will teach three sessions this spring with a different landscape for each class. 

Brenda is a certified Bob Ross Instructor in landscape and florals; she is a Partner in Painting with the late Wilson Bickford and attends painting seminars with Gary Jenkins. Brenda is also a pet portrait artist and studied under Marion Dutton of England. She teaches landscapes, seascapes, and florals and loves western art.

Printmaking 101 at the Carroll County Center in Berryville

Instructor: Emily Bolton 

This class is an introduction to the fun and satisfying art of printmaking! Learn the basics of printmaking such as relief printing and mono printing. Participants will have the opportunity to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind prints.  

Emily is an Arkansas native who enjoys art and the great outdoors! She's passionate about teaching and loves to share her curiosities with others. Emily has taught several art classes including painting, ceramics, and Art 1. Printmaking has always been a favorite, however, and she's excited to introduce this technique to her community!
